Standardisation

Great progress has been made by Norway’s oil and gas industry in its standardisation efforts, including harmonisation with the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).

The development of international standards in the petroleum sector will improve technology, enhance health, safety and environmental care, and lead not least to cost savings for the whole industry.

Standardisation work in Norway plays a key role in the framing of international standards for the petroleum sector. The OLF’s efforts in this area are largely channelled through Standards Norway.

Norway’s petroleum industry received an ISO award in 2006 for the priority it has given over a number of years to active and internationally oriented participation in work on standards.
