Norwegian Oil and Gas’ Drilling Managers Forum (DMF) took early 2010 an initiative for joint efforts by Norwegian Oil and Gas and NSA (Norwegian Shipowners Association) and established a task force with focus on reducing well incidents. One of the recommendations from the task force is to communicate actual well control incidents that have recently occurred on the NCS so lessons are shared and understood. A number of case histories has now been circulated to all installations.
The key message is to focus on what can be learnt from such events. It is hoped that sharing of such incidents will be helpful in our efforts to avoid or reduce the likelihood and severity of well incidents. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated by the task force.
