Several years of systematic work in the oil and gas industry has led to that the NCS is leading within helicopter safety. At the same time, the industry's safety work shall be a continuous matter and be driven foreward. The oil and gas industry stresses that the risk for offshore workers should be as low as possible, either working offshore or on their way offshore.
There has been several helicopter safety studies on the NCS, three by Norwegian Oil and Gas and memeber companies. A forth study, Helicopter safety study 3b, was initiated January 2016.

Information brochure
Norwegian Oil and Gas has prepared an information brochure in order to give helicopter passengers an insight into the systems behind a helicopter flight.

Guidelines
Norwegian Oil and Gas has developed guidelines for helicopter operation on the NCS which supplement the requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority. All helicopter operators must comply with these.
