FPSO and Shuttle tanker network

The overall objective of the workgroup is to enable FPSO and ST operators to learn from each other to improve operations and influence future designs.

The FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) and (ST) Shuttle Tanker Experience Transfer network is set up under the sponsorship of the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association Operations Committee. The committee recognized in 2001 the need to capture lessons learned during each of the Norwegian FPSO projects, and to gather experience from almost 100 operating years with FPSOs on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The workgroup has representation from the operators of the 10 Norwegian FPSOs, and 5 FSO (Floating, Storage and Offloading) vessels. Representatives from the PSA, MSA and DNV also participate to assist with legislative and safety issues. The group is supported by an Norwegian Oil and Gas Association sponsored facilitator and meets regularly.

The overall objective of the workgroup is to "To enable FPSO and ST operators to learn from each other to improve operations and influence future designs". The work programme includes projects:

  • to gather lessons learned from existing Norwegian FPSOs and FSOs
  • to develop an Norwegian Oil and Gas Association website for the sharing of FPSO lessons
  • to prepare best practice guidelines o offloading
  • to hold seminars on topics of relevance to FPSO operators such as Commissioning and Start-up and Integrity Management

This website seeks to provide the user access to a wide range of FPSO and ST lessons learned, links to other important FPSO websites and enables entry of lessons leaned by users interested in building a knowledge base for future designers and operators.
